We just received a shipment of new books! Included were dozens of titles full of information about Black History and the heroes who have helped make Dr. King's Dream more of a reality.

Food traditions are so important to cultures! So this week we're reading "Freedom Soup" by Tami Charles, which tells the story of a grandmother from Haiti relating history to her granddaughter. Here's the recipe! Copies of "Freedom Soup" can be found at a local Clayton County Public Library, including your Lovejoy branch. Bon Apetite!

One of our titles we've been reading for Black History Month is "Peeny Butter Fudge" by Toni Morrison. We discussed the importance of family and food traditions. I promised our scholars I'd post the recipe, so here it is! If you'd like to read the book with your family, there are several copies available at your Clayton County Public Library, including the Lovejoy Branch.

KPS scholars love to read!
